With a brief pause in Nizwa I traveled with the Environment Society of Oman to enjoy Hoota Cave and Bait Al Safah. The cave is certainly dramatic and well displayed with charming guides to escort visitors. One of many caves that are scattered through Omans northern mountains this has been made accessible through creating a new entrance away from the original which was more than a scramble to get through.

We had organized a special visit to Bait Al Safa where demonstrations were made of tradition methods of food preparation and herbal medicine. The house perhaps the oldest in its town is still in good order and its atmosphere added to what was a special day.
