Oman during March is a period when the temperature can vary considerably, with days approaching 40c or dropping to the low 20’s; fortunately the March arrival of ACE Study Tour coincided with a period of cooler weather. The Falaj systems which have been recently register on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list were a feature of the groups visit.

  A walk in the shade of a date oasis along the length of one Falaj gave an insight into the complicated water distribution method and the systems age which is now thought to have developed from 2500BC appx.
