The Olympic Torch snaked its way through Muscat today – I was stuck in traffic, as roads were blocked, so I parked the car and joined the crowds.

Since Oman is the only Arab country where the torch will visit – personalities from around the Arab world shared in the torch carrying.

It can’t have been a co-incidence that Tanzania with its historic connections to Oman was the only African nation to receive the relay.

The torch started it journey at the Dhow 'Sohar' – which sailed between Muscat and Canton in 1980 and I saw the flame in a village near the palace.
