The fruit of Baobab Trees (seen above at the base of the mountains in Dhofar, Oman) has just been given EU approval to be used in smoothies and cereal bars . Oman has probably 100 of the trees, mainly in the south but a few in the north. This low number hasn’t allowed any commercial use of the tree in the same way as the date and coconut – but I will certainly look more carefully next time I visit them to see if I can try a few fruit in my drinks.
