We had a meal in Japengo on Shatti al Qurm. The restaurant has a great location overlooking the beach and quite good design – that’s what attracted us a few months ago, just after it opened, before it got really going. The restaurant has a split personality – it appears to focus on Japanese Sushi and the clean décor could be Far East with a Twist but…. the background Musac was Arabic Pop , the roof top (the reason we came) was given over to Shisha .

For me the best part of the meal was an extraordinarily good Strawberry Milk Shake – served as an appetizer, good consistency, colour, flavour; however the food presentation was frankly disappointing with most of my ingredients swamped in uninteresting mayonnaise.

The staff were another plus point – and the manager goes out of his way to give the right service to clients.
