It was a journey of contrast .
Scrambling, up the Talus slope of one of northern Oman’s most impressive mountains we arrived exhausted but exhilarated with a view covering hundreds of square kilometers; oasis, town and in the distance desert. While the scramble up was difficult, the journey down was also a challenge with massive boulders and loose scree to negotiate and avoid a fall.

Then after a visit into one of the towns we saw in the distance we travelled to the border with the UAE; an area of the Rub al Khali. Not as dramatic as southern Oman’s Rub Al Khali nor with the interest of the Wahiba Sands it still has the power to make a human feel insignificant.
